DUKE OF EDINBURGH BRONZE AWARD | Snozone

Snozone are an accredited centre for the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze Award Scheme. Duke of Edinburgh students are required to demonstrate personal progress and achievements against a selected skill- in this case- competence in skiing or snowboarding.

Snozone supports those in the scheme to learn, improve, develop and practice in their chosen snow sport.  Assessment on progress is undertaken by Snozone Coaches via a record of achievement card and the assessment will run over thirteen weeks, with a minimum attendance requirement of two hours per week.  This activity is available for both skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels and is for students aged 14-24.

Snozone provides all of the necessary equipment including skis, snowboards, boots and helmets. Students will need to bring waterproof clothing, warm clothes, thick socks and gloves, which can all be purchased at Snozone.

Students must have pre-enrolled with the DofE Bronze award scheme to proceed. This can be organised online at www.dofe.org/do but usually, the school or college will enrol the student.

Snozone will provide an experienced and trained BASI (or equivalent) Coach to deliver the activity and the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award will run over thirteen consecutive weeks, with a minimum requirement of two hours per week.  We deliver these activities in a group setting of up to 8 students. Larger groups can be accommodated on request.

The Duke of Edinburgh is a life-changing experience and an opportunity to discover new interests, skills (in this case, in their chosen snowsport), confidence, overcoming challenges, leadership and teamwork. The DofE Bronze award is a recognised mark of achievement; respected by employers and a great addition to any future CV.

Within the physical activity element of the DofE Bronze award there is no defined end goal in terms of pass marks, grades or levels to be achieved. Instead, the candidates must show the following attributes;

•           Progression from where they started
•           Commitment to the programme
•           Dedication to learning

£29.99 per session X 13 weeks. (£389.87)

Please get in touch to find out more by completing the enquiry form to the right hand side of this page.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time of your activity to allow for ticket collection and getting your equipment.  It is better to be here early, relax and have a look around before the fun begins. Arriving late may mean that you miss the important introduction and safety briefing, in these circumstances Snozone reserves the right to deny you access to your activity and you will not be entitled to a refund.

Our friendly reception team will need the full name of the person who made the booking. Once you have met our reception team you will be directed to collecting any equipment you may need for your experience. A member of the Snozone team will then meet you at the lesson or session meeting point and take you out onto the snow. Those booking a lift pass are free to join the slope at the start time stated on their ticket.

Monday to Friday, term time, is often the quietest time at Snozone, however we recommend that you pre-book all activities as we operate strict snow slope capacities and we wouldn't want you to be disappointed.  Special events may take place at times and if so, we will provide notice of these across our social media networks.

At our Madrid, Yorkshire and Milton Keynes locations you'll be on real snow so wrap up warm in waterproof jackets and trousers - gloves are a must!

For hygiene reasons ski jackets, salopettes, gloves and socks are not available to hire at our UK locations.  Gloves and socks can be purchased at the Snozone shop for very reasonable prices.  Clothing is available to hire at our Madrid location.

All of your ski and snowboard equipment (boots, skis, board, poles and helmets) are included in the ticket price and are thoroughly cleaned between every use.

You are welcome to bring your own helmet, otherwise they will be given out by one of our team members at the equipment hire desk.

You can bring your own equipment. For adults there is no difference in price but children receive 10% off if they bring their own skis / snowboard and boots. Lockers are available for you to use, please bring a £1 coin which is returned once your visit is complete.

To maintain high standards of coaching, our group lessons are segmented into adults and juniors so we can tailor the lesson to the relevant age group.

If you would like to learn together as a family then we would recommend one of our private lessons.

Gift Vouchers are valid for 12 months and can be purchased in denominations of £25, £50 and £100.

They can be redeemed at any venue against any slope activity, merchandise in our shops or at our Alpine Kitchen restaurants.  The balance remains if the full amount is not spent.

Yes you can take pictures or videos on the slopes, however, please consider other slope users and their privacy, as well as your own safety and that of our team.  Snozone do not take any responsibility for any damage or accidents caused by guests taking their own photos.  We may request that you refrain from this activity, should it be deemed unsafe or in breach of our privacy policy.
